Discuss your AMS needsWhat Workday AMS covers
A Workday Application Maintenance Service (AMS) provides structured, SLA-governed support for your Workday tenant after go-live, covering incident resolution, bi-annual release adoption, configuration changes and functional enhancements. HCM Advisory Service delivers this as an independent advisory, with no implementation revenue and direct access to senior ex-Workday consultants on every ticket. The service is designed to complement your internal HR-IT team and, where relevant, your existing implementation partner.

How our Workday AMS engagement runs
- 01
Service Design
We assess your current tenant state, open gaps and internal HR-IT capacity. From this, we define SLA tiers, ticket categories and the governance model that will govern the engagement.
- 02
Onboarding
We document your tenant configuration, business processes and integration landscape. This baseline lets us resolve incidents accurately and assess release impact without repeated discovery.
- 03
Ongoing Operations
Incidents are logged, triaged and resolved within agreed SLA windows. Release cycles are managed proactively, with impact assessments delivered ahead of each Workday bi-annual update.
- 04
Continuous Improvement
Quarterly reviews identify recurring issues and enhancement opportunities. We prioritise and deliver configuration changes, keeping your Workday tenant aligned with evolving HR requirements.
What you have at the end
Workday AMS across DACH and globally
HCM Advisory Service delivers Workday AMS to organisations headquartered or operating across Germany, Austria and Switzerland, as well as supporting global Workday tenants from its base in Bretten, Baden-Württemberg, with additional capacity in Portugal and India.
AMS and post-go-live experience from DACH and beyond
“We are partnering with HCM Advisory since the global go-live of our Workday implementation to address additional implementation work and fill gaps that couldn’t be covered initially. This involves multiple functional topics across all Workday SKUs we implemented, as well as integrations. Alex Perpétuo, Oliver Stegmann, and their entire team are incredibly helpful. They are demonstrating profound expertise and providing hands-on solutions with quick turnaround times. HCM Advisory often goes beyond our stated requirements, anticipating our needs and thinking one or two steps ahead. Their proactive approach and deep understanding of functional topics and integrations made a significant difference in our project’s success.”
“HCM Advisory Service provided a detailed analysis for the optimisation of Workday as the leading HR platform at GEA, which GEA will take up internally in projects. The combination of profound HR process knowledge on the one hand and deep application knowledge around Workday on the other hand were of great advantage for us. Furthermore, Mr. Stegmann was entrusted with preparations for global payroll harmonisation. The analysis he developed was very helpful and illustrated the options for action in this area.”
Frequently asked questions about Workday AMS
How much does a Workday AMS engagement cost?
Cost depends on the number of Workday modules in scope, the volume of incidents and change requests expected per month, and the SLA response times required. There is no standard list price. HCM Advisory Service scopes each engagement individually, typically starting with a review of your current tenant state and support backlog, from which a monthly retainer or time-and-materials model is proposed.
How quickly can Workday AMS support start after go-live?
In most cases, an AMS engagement can begin within a few weeks of go-live. The onboarding phase, during which we document your tenant configuration and agree SLA tiers, typically takes two to four weeks. For organisations with urgent post-go-live gaps, ad hoc expert support can start sooner while the formal AMS structure is put in place.
Which Workday modules and functional areas does your AMS cover?
Our AMS covers the full range of Workday HCM modules, including Core HCM, Absence, Time Tracking, Compensation, Talent, Recruiting, Payroll and Integrations. The scope is agreed at the start of the engagement and can be extended as your Workday footprint grows.
Does HCM Advisory work alongside our existing implementation partner?
Yes. HCM Advisory Service operates as an independent adviser and typically works alongside the existing implementation partner rather than replacing them. Because we have no implementation revenue, we have no conflict of interest when assessing what your tenant needs or when reviewing work delivered by another party.
What makes HCM Advisory different from a standard Workday AMS provider?
Every engagement is staffed by senior consultants who previously held leadership roles at Workday itself, including the first Business Development Manager and first Engagement Manager for Workday in the DACH region. This means you deal directly with people who built Workday’s presence in Europe, not with junior analysts escalating to a senior layer.
How does your AMS handle the bi-annual Workday releases?
Workday publishes two major releases per year. For each release, we carry out an impact assessment against your tenant configuration, identify features that require activation or testing, coordinate regression testing with your HR-IT team, and manage sign-off before the release goes live in your production environment.
How does Workday AMS address works council and GDPR requirements in DACH?
Configuration changes that affect employee data processing or working conditions in Germany and Austria may require works council (Betriebsrat) involvement under co-determination rules. Our team has direct experience managing these consultations and can advise on which changes trigger Mitbestimmung obligations, reducing the risk of delays or legal exposure.
Can your AMS support a Workday tenant that spans multiple countries?
Yes. HCM Advisory Service supports global and EMEA-wide Workday tenants, including those with country-specific configurations for Germany, Austria, Switzerland and beyond. Our additional capacity in Portugal and India allows us to cover a broader range of time zones and localisation requirements within a single AMS engagement.
